Paradise Meadows on Mount Washington, BC is one of our favourite places on Vancouver Island.
No matter what time of the year, it is always a welcome getaway.
In the winter we often seek a little bit of sun, since there are many days heavy clouds and rain, at the west coast of BC.
It takes us 40 min on the very well maintained road, to break through the clouds to see the sun.
No matter if in ice and snow, or in the lash greens of the summer, we always take time to relax with a picnic and a blanket at the meadows. Whiskey Jacks are typically our guests and we are usually caring some extra bird feed, to get a closer encounter with these happy lively creatures. They take the food out of our hands, which is always a welcome attraction for the kids.
In the winter time it can be quite a workout to stump through the deep snow with snow shoes, but trails are very well maintained and you can stay on trails if you don't like to explore the deep.
In spring the Paradise Meadows brings a beautiful lash green and water splashing in the creeks along the trail sounds like music from a relaxation tape.
Summers are the best! Blueberries everywhere, as far the eye can see. There must be at least 5 different species. Blueberries in different sizes and flavours.
Just steps form the resort, the trails wind their way trough ragged alpine trees and flower-dotted meadows. Accessed from Mount Washington's Raven Lodge, there are a choice of trails that includes even a wheelchair accessible boardwalk.
Loops around the meadows range from 3km trails with little or no elevation, to the 7-9km loop to Helen MacKenzie and Battleship Lakes.
We like to share this special place with our guests and some of our trips include a hike into this beautiful area.
